Tijeras, Edgewood NM
Tijeras
Tijeras is located at the intersection of Interstate 40 and NM 337 in Tijeras Canyon east of Albuquerque. It is one of only two incorporated communities in the area typically called the "East Mountains", but it is really only one of many communities along the eastern slopes of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains.
Edgewood
Founded in the early 1930's, Edgewood was the homestead of a number of families that still maintain deep roots in the community.
The Town of Edgewood stretches out over a 16 mile area in the southwestern portion of Santa Fe County. It is 20 miles East of Albuquerque on Interstate 40. It is 51 miles South of the City of Santa Fe, which is the county seat.
The town is located on the Eastern side of the Sandia Mountains and is protected from the desert heat.
Interstate 40 cuts directly through town and is easily accessible from the North and the South. This is particularly attractive to businesses. Two major supermarkets, a national pharmacy and a small retail shopping center have opened their doors in the last five years as well as a major automobile dealership.
